Castings Machining

We undertake the precision machining of all castings. Aluminium, steel and iron castings can be either milled or turned as required as well as exotic materials such as bronze.

Datum Points: Unlike billet machining, exact datum points need to be set up for each casting, either manually by eye or with a wobble bar etc. We have considerable experience in the determination of datum points and the precision engineering of castings. Castings on the CNC lathes can be set up using Renshaw technology.

Preparation: Where required deburring and cleaning of castings can be undertaken prior to machining in order to facilitate datum location and jig mounting.

Jigging: Full jigging is manufactured for your castings as part of the cost to ensure consistent and accurate tolerances. Single and multi-component jigs can be made depending on the size of the component.

Surface Finish: Any machined surface finish can be applied including a standard 3.2µ or tighter 1.6µ or 0.8µ finishes.
